Hi,
This also affects me. I have an ASUS laptop (UX32VD) with two HDD, one
with Windows 7 (SATA) and another with Raring (SSD). W7 seems to be
fine, but Ubuntu won't read the design battery capacity. My charger has
a light which goes green when the battery is fully charged. It turns

Christophe Schepens, could you please confirm this issue exists with the
latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ . If the issue remains,
could you please run the following command in the development release
from a Terminal
Tried this on kernels:
- 3.8.0-12-generic #21~lp1133328cking: design capacity is not reported
- 3.8.0-16-generic #26: POWER_SUPPLY_ENERGY_FULL_DESIGN is 0.
No improvement.

Is there anything else that I can help to get this defect fixed?
Maybe someone can give me some documentation or hints on how I can fix this
myself in the kernel?

We would like to ensure you don't have any Embedded Controller issues.
Could you remove the battery + AC power, wait 5 minutes, pop the battery
back in and see if that helps?

I've tried cking's patch, but it didn't fix the issue.
Now POWER_SUPPLY_ENERGY_FULL_DESIGN is just not reported anymore while I would
expect to see a useful value:

Linux test 3.8.0-12-generic #21~lp1133328cking SMP Fri Mar 8 17:58:50 UTC 2013
To be sure, I reinstalled everything and got again the latest version from
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds.
I used the version of March 6th, 2013.
In a terminal I checked the used kernel by typing *uname -a.*
The used kernel is: 3.9.0.999-generic.
The battery design capacity is
Please run the following:
sudo acpidump acpidump.log
and attach the acpidump.log to the bug - thanks!
