Hmm. Well, I wonder if they could just be forced? Try copying the
attached MonitorDB to /usr/share/displayconfig-gtk/MonitorDB and see if
you can use the resolutions. (Honestly I'd be surprised if it works,
but it's worth a shot.)

It is a Toshiba Regza 32" flat TV panel hooked up to a laptop via a VGA
cable.
What I mean, though, is that those common HDTV resolutions are not
listed under as generic flat panel options, so it is not possible to
configure an output that fits an HDTV LCD panel exactly, be it
Toshiba, Sony, Phili
