Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue

Sounds like the originator solved his problem, since he has not been
back.
He might have replaced his bad DIMM modules (hardware issue)

I conducted this latest effort by trying to install Gutsy tribe 4 on one
of the machines that I was having the BEEPING problem on. On initially
installing Gutsy on this machine I got the same BEEPING problem and
someone suggested that I try blacklisting edac to see if that would
resolve and I
Is anything being done to attempt to correct this problem ???
It has been almost 4 months since I reported this problem and I am still
having to install Edgy on 2 of my 4 machines because Feisty will not run
on 2 of my machines because I get this constant system beep if I try to

Can this same thing be accomplished by just running the 7.04 update from
the update manager in Edgy ?
Do you have knowledge as to whether this has been fixed at this time ?

I have noticed that when this error occurs, Aptana (Eclipse) becomes
unresponsive. I haven't noticed this happening with any other application, nor
have I been able to reproduce the bug.
If another user has the same problem and also uses Eclipse I immagine it would
be a nice clue.
Let me know
Can you tell me what Eclipse is so I can try it ? What kind of program
is this ? Is it available and can it be installed from Synaptic ?
Thanks.

Given that wpshooter doesn't seem to be running Eclipse (www.eclipse.org), it
seems it's not to blame for this error. In my opinion, then, it raises this
bug's severity since it affects other applications and the overall stability of
the system (whereas it was reported so far that it only
I have 2 computer on which I get these problems with I try installing
Feisty on them.
I have 2 other computer on which I do NOT get these problems when I try
installing Feisty on them. Both of these computer have older video
cards and motherboards than the 2 that I am having the problems with.
My I ask if any work is being done to fix this problem ?
I just downloaded the Feisty DESKTOP version yesterday, burned and tried
to install this morning, 05-27-2007 and I still get the exact same
behavior (or might be better stated mis-behavior) as I reported in my
original report of this error.
Will there be any notification when the problem(s) that are causing this
are fixed or is there any way to know when this fix might be
accomplished, other than just trying to install Feisty again and see if
the problem is still there ?
I would like to perhaps try Feisty again but this behavior is

I don't think there would be any point in my posting this since I have
already wiped the drive clean on this machine and reinstalled the Edgy
O/S from scratch.
Thanks.

I have the same behaviour on ubuntu feisty 32bits desktop (clean
install). I can provide the information you asked for. I'm attaching the
messages recieved on the terminal, /var/log/syslog and the output of
lspci -vvn.
I don't get the system beeps reported by the original poster, but I
suspect
You can attach your syslog file and your messages file. Thanks

My initial attempt to install Feisty was a direct install from a burned
Feisty CD (I tried both the DESKTOP the ALTERNATE versions and got the
same behavior that I described in the bug report).
Next I burned a DESKTOP version of Edgy, installed it and then AFTER
