When I run without sudo the terminal outputs:

I got my hands on another machine that was updated to Raring..
Clicking ANY of the items that have vanished from the repo causes the crash.
Attempt to select them via keyboard also produces the same crash.
These items (by their nature) are only found in the Status-Not Installed
Status changed to 'Confirmed' because the bug affects multiple users.

Title:
I managed to remove packages by selecting the check boxes manually one
by one - here I mean using with the mouse. But when trying to choose
several packages with the keyboard, that is by holding down Shift key
and Arrow down key, Synaptic crashes.
