I've upgraded from 7.04 to 7.10. Now, in Gutsy, I no longer have the
issue. If I click Format -> Slide, then select a different theme, the
program no longer crashes.

It appears to be resolved! At least for me.

Confirmed using openoffice.org version 2.2.0-1ubuntu3 on amd64 by going
to the Format -> Slide Design menu and choosing something different. Do
you use an amd64 or i386 kernel? Thanks again.
