Tested again with the same kernel (3.2.0-38), same BIOS version on 201201-10376
This bug cannot be reproduced (please find the attached log),
probably it's fixed in some other packages e.g. FWTS
As a result, I will mark this bug as Fix-Released, thanks

Comment #6 and #10 are still valid for errors in #14. This seems happens
on a number of systems, but it does not cause any function failures.

@Arif:
1. Probably not for now.
2. Yes, it's just a suspend/resume, and you are OK not to worry about this
particular issue even if you do suspend/resume. I doubt dual boot will have any
problem
3. I doubt so. Firmware updates may fix existing bugs, but may also be risky to
update, so if you
Hi There,
I am getting Dell-Precision-T1650.
I want to know if I can go for Xubuntu 12.04 or 13.10.
Would I face similar issue.

Per some commentary by Colin, I ask the following:
A: is this a crititical bug? Colin assumes so, and I'm willing to differ to his
judgement on this and NOT worry about demoting it.
B: what do you need from us to help debug and push the OEMs into fixin their
firmware to avoid this issue
C:
Just to clarify:
1, fwts flags buffer overrun bugs as critical. An engineer needs to look at
them to see if they are an real issue or can be skipped.
2, Alex has checked this particular issue and thinks its OK to ignore this
issue.
3, In general, buffer overrun issues need inspection to see if
1) Is there anything i can help you folks with?
2) Let me know the exact use case/workflow and I will test it out and give your
details.
As i understand issue is only in suspend and resume, it wont cause troble
for me as i wont use these features,
if there is an issue. As long as
It appears there are a couple issues here. First, Kent points out that
the system's BIOS is apparently not production level. This system came
to us via hardware enablement. It was my understanding that when HWE
does certification testing for the Enablement Image, they MUST use
production level

This is a common BIOS bug and it is caused by BIOS AML trying to access
a variable that is outside the input buffer arg0, i.e. the below code:
CreateWordField (Arg0, 0x11, IRQE)
In ACPI spec, _SRS's input buffer needs to be the same size of _CRS as
defined below:
6.2.15 _SRS (Set Resource

Might also be worth it to try and update the BIOS to something more
sane. X72 is not a production level BIOS and seems to be on-par with
BIOS A04. The later BIOSes can be found here:
