Public bug reported:

I have an AVM passive isdn device, and i was trying to make it work for sending
fax with my ubuntu feisty fawn,
this didn't work in the end, so i switched to an online fax service, but i
didn't uninstall all what i had installed--
after a few days i started to find my system hang w/o reasons:
i come back in the morning and found that gnome-panel is not responsive
anymore, i kill it
but doesn't respawn..
then i try to go to tty1 but it doesn't work..
ctrl-alt-backspace does, i get back to login window, log in, and remain seeing
a nice white screen instead of my gnome...
from there the only way back is an hard reboot..no key combination work
anymore..
all the programs that were running before it crashes keep running fine, but if
i try to open new ones i just get an empty window...
this happened a few times..
until i got tired and started to remove packages:
i removed capiutils, capisuite and libcapi..
then i disabled the proprietary driver from driver manager
but the system keeps hanging
then i remember i had to modprobe hisax module
rmmod hisax and the modules that depends on it, and my system is stable again,
no more lockups.

** Affects: Ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Unconfirmed
