I think the problem is deeper. Original liloconfig creates lilo.conf with empty per-image section. After applying recommended patch the liloconfig generates correct lilo.conf, but it differs from one generated during ubuntu install. Ububtu installer generates lilo.conf reffering to symlinks in roo
