Everyone else - Unfortunately the title of this bug describes a generic
symptom. We've found that these keys can break in a variety of
interestingly different and unrelated (often hardware-specific) ways.
So if you are having problems with arrow keys please file a NEW bug.

Apparently this was a known issue in Intrepid alpha5
(http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/intrepid/alpha5#Known%20Issues) - the
work around described there (set keyboard "Ev-managed") is currently
working for me.

pagedown don't work. I have no xmodmap. Keys work fine in text console.

Upgraded from fresh hardy install.
The left arrow no longer works in X, but it works in KDM

Please reopen this bug, as Dominik was not the only person affected by it.
I have no .Xmodmap, xev returns the proper events, but arrow keys don't work,
PgUp returns a "/" and / results in a . Media keys don't work either.
This situation to a programmer is a royal pain in the keyster. Argh!!!

The problem was an old .Xmodmap that I used in Hardy in my /home folder. I
deleted it, now everything works as expected. I wrote this .Xmodmap to use my
CapsLock as a third modifier in addition to Alt and Ctrl.
Looks like there have been many changes.

I have this problem in intrepid. Here is some information from xev |
