I downloaded a similar file from
ftp://ftp.pdbj.org/pub/pdb/data/structures/all/pdb/pdb163l.ent.gz
...
and with the current version of file-roller and jmol, I could not reproduce
this bug.
So I consider it as non-reproducible, and will close it.

have you checked if the version of jmol on Debian stable as I have used
here for quantal:

Well, I was and I am not sure that this here could be a file-roller
issue. Caused by this I h
I tried to reproduce this problem in Debian stable, and I cannot
reproduce it all.
If I manually gunzip the file and open it with jmol, it displays fine.
If I extract it with file-roller and open it in jmol, it displays fine
as well.
Are you sure this is not a file-roller issue? Or maybe it is a
