I believe that this bug has been corrected in Ubuntu hardy
openoffice.org 1:2.4.0~rc2-1ubuntu3 so I am marking it as Fix Released.
If after upgrading you continue to have problems with this issue then
feel free to reopen this bug.

cbourbou said that this happened with a theme other than Human. Which
theme in particular are you using? I'm wondering if this is due to some
property of a single icon in the theme.

Found a tip to remove the package "openoffice.org-gtk" via Synaptic, although
it didn't seem to fit my problem 100%:
The tip basically said there's a problem with this package if you use themes
other than "Human" - which I do use. But I gave it a try - and in my case, it
solved the crashes. For

Impress crashes often, but I cannot pin it to a distinct action - sometimes it
crashes even during a presentation, which is rather embarrassing.
Started from a terminal, I get the named error messages:

I still have this bug. I create a blank presentation, I add 2 text area, I add
an effect on the first area. Sometimes it crash at the second preview,
sometimes it's when i add an effect on the second text area.

I've been getting this problem A LOT. It's really annoying; I have a
