Public bug reported: Hello,
I've found that when I'm trying to boot the ubuntu GTK installer from flash drive computers freeze on black screen right after the system tries to boot into the graphical installer. This is happening only with the GTK installer, not the text one. It happens only on 12.10 releases, both netboot and hd-media. I've tested on 3 laptops from lenovo and toshiba as well as on a stand-alone PC. My flash is bootable thanks to SYSLINUX and the my config file is: DEFAULT netboot PROMPT 1 TIMEOUT 200 SAY Hello skrechy! Please choose between "netboot", "isoboot" or "netbootG": LABEL netboot KERNEL /netboot/linux APPEND initrd=/netboot/initrd.gz LABEL isoboot KERNEL /isoboot/vmlinuz APPEND initrd=/isoboot/initrd.gz LABEL netbootG KERNEL /netbootG/linux APPEND initrd=/netbootG/initrd.gz video=vesa:ywrap, mtrr vga=788 (the netbootG is the option with GTK, others are the text installer and they work) I'm using images downloaded from: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/quantal/main/installer-amd64/current/images/ I've tried to append many kernel options such as nomodeset, noapic, noacpi, etc but nothing helped. I've tried with 12.04 gtk installer with the same config file and there were no problems. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: boot drive flash gtk installer netboot ** Description changed: Hello, - I've found that when I'm trying to boot the ubuntu GTK installer from flash drive computers freeze on black screen right after the system tries to boot into the graphical installer.
