Public bug reported: Binary package hint: numlockx
Installing the numlockx package installs a file in /etc/X11/Xsession.d which activates numlock on X startup. OK. But if you then deinstall that package, the file in /etc/X11/Xsession.d remains, and it errors out due to not finding the binary anymore. That error code gets propagated up, so this small error in fact aborts the whole X log in, so that after typing my password in kdm I'm back to kdm again - the session start up is aborted by this error code. Error handling is good, but this is overzealous error handling :-) dpkg -r numlockx should remove that Xsession.d file and/or that file should ignore errors. ** Affects: numlockx (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Deinstalling numlockx breaks X startup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/116528 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
