How did you run `dconf reset -f /org/compiz/` if unity is broken (it
complains `error: Cannot autolaunch D-Bus without X11 $DISPLAY` when run
in console opened with kbdStrg/kbd+kbdAlt/kbd+kbdF5/kbd)?

Forget it, if there's an (almost) invisible window (e.g. 1x1 pixel
window size), one has to figure out which it might be and kill it in the
tty console with `kill` (or `pkill` if you want), then a terminal can be
opened with kbdCtrl/kbd+kbdAlt/kbd+kbdt/kbd.

Same problem here after upgrading to 13.04 (previously had problems with
this early on with 12.04). I'm running nvidia-current (304) with a
9600GT (desktop not mobile).

We've recently been seeing a number of bugs where Compiz is crashing
(bug #1166765), which exhibits this behavior. In those cases, it seems
the Nvidia binary drivers are being used. However, in this bug, it's
not clear which gfx card is being used.
Could you provide which gfx card

After dist-upgrade yesterday, in unity desktop has disappears sidebar
and relative bars. I see some packages have been removed for unity. i
reinstall unity desktop (ubuntu-desktop) but desktop have been without
sidebar and toolbars
