Shane, could you please test for this in the newest mainline kernel via
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.11-rc3-saucy/ and
advise if the problem is reproducible?

@Shane I have bought a USB wifi adapter. Now, wifi work fine, but I can't
connect the Bluetooth mouse. I got a bad experience in this condition. Not so
much, sometime the display will mass up. So I give up Ubuntu within surface.
Looking for 13.10, or other Linux OS, such as Fedora.

I have a feeling it will work in 13.10 since it was originaly in the
package list (can't remember were I found that info). I am more
interested in someone resolving the kernel issue now because I cannot
lunch any kernel past 3.8.0-25. I wanted to get into this but its
beyond my ability right now.
@Danny: My best guess is that no one is working on the bug. I've looked
at it a little myself but it is really going to take someone familiar
with Marvel/Linux wifi to sort this out. The patch that is linked is
not a good solution.

Yes, please fix this! Poor WiFi support is the only thing keeping me
from enjoying Ubuntu on Surface Pro.

Well unfortunately it doesn't seem to be a perfect fix! After a day of
it working fine linux is now crashing shortly after bootup with some
debug message related to the wireless. I haven't had time to
investigate yet. If you go ahead and try things out I would suggest not

I will give your method a go. When you link your article I will link it

I recompiled the mwifiex driver using the patch linked at
http://askubuntu.com/a/262010/88546 (the one that comments out uap and
p2p) and can confirm that it does indeed fix the problem. I had to
reboot twice after copying over the new kernel objects - first shutdown
after loading them had a hang,
You'll need to compile the kernel yourself to apply that patch. All it
does is comment out p2p and uap so they won't start up, so unfortunately
even if it seems to solve the issue for us on the Surface it's not a
real solution to the problem. I'll give it a try when I can and get

I can confirm this bug also. 12.10 WPA GUI workaround won't work. I
tried declaring the wpa_supplicant & dhclient in /etc/rc.local just to
see if it would work but had no luck. Bing Zhoa provides a patch

I am also experiencing this issue. If there is anything I can do
(system information, debug logs, etc...) to help things to get
diagnosed, let me know!

Tested on 3.9 rc6 and issue still exists. The apport-collect
