Well, this feature was at least present in Dapper (Amarok 1.3.9), though
from looking at the changes over 1.3.9 (dapper), 1.4.3 (edgy) to 1.4.8
(hardy) I didn't find anything which would indicate that this was
removed.
My guess, without looking at the code, is that Amarok generates the
result
In Gutsy, Amarok have the same status. Check the attachment.

This is not a libtunepimp bug. Since version 0.5, libtunepimp doesn't
provide any API to lookup MusicBrainz. This functionality is implemented
directly in Amarok.
