It does show up as "HDMI / Displayport 3" when on 3.8.0-17 kernel and
the speaker-test works then even without specifing the exact device. I
did the speaker-test on the 3.8.0-18 with your exact specs and it gave
out this error:
speaker-test 1.0.25
Playback device is hdmi:0,2
Stream parameters are
Your HDMI device usually show up as "HDMI / Displayport 3", right? If
so, for speaker-test you should specify
"speaker-test -D hdmi:0,2 -c 2 -t wav "
Will that work, appear to work but give silent output, or give an error
message (and if so, what error message)?
