Public bug reported:

Hello,

I'm not sure if this is gnome-shell or lightdm problem.

Today, the keyboard/mouse stopped working on some apps. I could type
things into the terminal but various other things like pgup/dn did
something other than what it was supposed to. (This has happened to me
a few times in gnome)

Then I pressed ctrl-alt-f1 for the text console and ran...
/etc/init.d/lightdm restart

And after that the keyboard completely fails. I'm in the console and
every letter I enter shows symbols, not even ctrl-alt-del or the power
button works. It shows funny characters when I press them. I had tried
both a usb + the normal laptop keyboard.

Everything was ok again after reboot.

Thanks.
