I confirm that this bug (same as #779159)
happens sytematically on my laptop running ubuntu 12.04 LTS (with up-to-date
upgrades)
and that it seems to be solved by reverting to older firmware
iwlwifi-4965-ucode-228.57.2.23
as suggested by

Hi Christopher, unfortunately I can't update the bios as the updater
provided by HP is for Windows only and I don't have this OS on my
machine.
