Thanks for testing and the new Hardy Alpha2 release everyone. I'm going
to mark this report as "Fix Released" for the Hardy release per the last
sets of comments. For those of you experiencing new bugs (ie static, no
login sound etc) for the new release, please feel free to open a new bug
report.
The sound on my Gateway MX3414 (which uses nVidia MCP51 HDA rev a2)
seems to be working for the first time now that I'm using Hardy Heron
alpha2. It doesn't seem to play the login sound, but opening any of the
example files on the LiveCD in Totem works fine.

My sound works on Hardy Heron alpha2 but has a lot of static (even at
low volumes) when I tried to play any of my music. For some reason the

Hardy Heron Alpha2 was recently released. It contains an updated
version of the kernel. You can download and try the new Hardy Heron
Alpha2 release from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/hardy/alpha-2/ .
You should be able to then test the new kernel via the LiveCD. If you
can, please verify if
