Public bug reported: ubuntu 12.10.
Problem: Try to shutdown the machine by clicking poweroff button, the system can not be shuted down. The screen goes black. Keyboard becomes non functional. All led lights on my laptop and keyboard are still on. I have to long press the physical power key to force shutdown. Occur Ratio/Frequency: Happens randomly. 80% of time. Workaround: Ctrl+Alt+F1 --> login the console --> run "sudo shutdown -h now" will 100% guarantee the system can be shuted down. NOTE: even run "sudo shutdown -h now" in a terminal under X environment will not always work. /var/log/syslog before next boot: Apr 25 16:59:32 song-lp NetworkManager[924]: <error> [1366880372.637668] [nm-dns-dnsmasq.c:390] update(): dnsmasq not available on the bus, can't update servers.
