Public bug reported: When using nautilus to copy files to a FAT32 USB, files are stored using the original directory order. When read by a primitive device which does no software sorting, files are presented in non-alphanumeric order.
E.g. When copying a list of mp3 files to a USB flash drive for playing in a hardware device, the order looks correct, but the hardware device plays the mp3 files in directory order (as revealed by ls -f). Example: ls -1fi 7771 . 7759 .. 7772 02_Thorny_Thicket__The_Submarines.mp3 7773 10_Brightest_Hour__The_Submarines.mp3 7774 03_You,_Me,_+_The_Bourgeoisie__The_Submarines.mp3 7775 05_The_Wake_Up_Song__The_Submarines.mp3 7776 04_1940__The_Submarines.mp3 7777 08_Xavia__The_Submarines.mp3 7778 09_Fern_Beard__The_Submarines.mp3 7779 06_Swimming_Pool__The_Submarines.mp3 7780 07_Maybe__The_Submarines.mp3 7781 00-The Submarines-Honeysuckle Weeks.m3u 7782 00-The Submarines-Honeysuckle Weeks.sfv 7783 01_Sub_Symphonika__The_Submarines.mp3 ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1176106 Title: Nautilus file order problem when copying files to FAT32 USB To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1176106/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
