Just to add that I also have this bug in Kubuntu 13.10 and had it in
Ubuntu 13.04 on the same hardware previously.

Just upgraded 3 machines to 64bit 13.10 and am still being flooded with
the message when I do a dmesg. The only way I can stop it is by
blacklisting mei and mei_me, as within minutes dmesg is full of the
reset messages and doesn't contain any useful info any longer.
Linux DESKTOP
I patched the source from 3.8.0-27.40 (there aren't any changes for the
mei driver in any Ubuntu 3.8 kernels) and just build the module. The
dmesg log still continues to fill with mei reset messages.
Since the mei driver has changed a lot since 3.8, I tried to backport
the mei driver from git AKA

I have a full tower Dell Optiplex 755 and see this message.

I believe I have the same issue with my Dell Optiplex 755 small form
factor desktop. I just upgraded from 12.10 to 13.04 with kernel
3.8.0-19-generic amd64. I'm using it as a firewall/router, so it has 2
Intel Pro/1000 gigabit ethernet adapters installed (one onboard, one
PCI). I get streams of
SORRY.
The bug has *NOT* been fixed in kernel 3.9. It was *apparently* fixed
because after installing kernel 3.9 i just did a warm reboot. With a
cold boot the problem is still present in 3.9. :-(
I try to investigate more about this issue and post new info as soon as
I can.

I tried a number of different boot-reboot sequences. The only kernel
that never shows the problem is 3.5. Quite frequently, warm reboots 3.5
= 3.9 show no problem (but not always).
So I confirm that the bug is NOT fixed in upstream kernel.

Joseph, thank you for your comment.
I installed the kernel you pointed me:

rebooted and the reset doesn't appear anymore.
Now I'm copying some large file over the network and it seems to work
properly,
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v3.9 kernel[0].
If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
