Public bug reported: Lubuntu 13.04 freshly installed.
Installed drivers for my Epson printer. Went into the System -> "Printer" menu, but I had no way to add my printer (a message says that CUPS service is not started). **************** WORKAROUND: After searching on forums, I found the "sudo service cups restart" command , which gave me the following output: stop: Unknown instance: cups start/running, process 4311 Then I restarted the System -> "Printer" menu. The error message had disappeared, and I could add my printer. ** Affects: cups (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1180531 Title: CUPS not started automatically in 13.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/1180531/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
