Some additional "information"...
My problem occurs on a 64bit System76 gazp running 13.04 64bit, but
seems to have the same symptoms as does Pierre's above. Additionally I
receive the following warnings prior to Segmentation fault:
clh@avignon:~$ /usr/bin/gnome-alsamixer
