@themuso so it's ok to drop libasound2-plugins-extra package? why was it
introduced in quantal then? Or is that delta still needs to be applied
on top of debian? If we want to drop that package, shouldn't we need to
still modify libasound2-plugins to replace -extra package?

THis package is undergoing testing. Feel free to install it from the
Ubuntu Audio Dev ALSA testing PPA, ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev/alsa-testing.
THis PPA also includes updates to alsa-lib and alsa-utils.
