You have attached your main.log as second log here.
Refering to it you have in your quantal installation some maverik
repositories enabled.
With this the comment #2 has become obsolet.

I have no clue how it comes that on your Ubuntu12.10 quantal
installation, Ubuntu10.10 maveric repositories are enabled. That should
not be.

It is clear what the problem is:
ubuntu-release-upgrader is disabeling the deb repositories for maveric,
but not the deb-src ones.
Because, the extra repositories for maveric do not exist anymore on the
URL's a 404 Error is received.
On that the upgrade process is failing.

log files too ?

version.
I had installed ubutnu 12.10 from windows 7 in a linux 3.5.0-30generic and my
