I think you may be right... I thought initially that the bugs were the
same as it seemed to be triggered by the splash screen in both cases and
I also got the "IO error occured opening connection." warning in the
.xsession-error log. But I do not get the "/usr/bin/gnome-session:

No, I don't think it's the same issue: The icons do not reach the border
of the splash image, and in my case the splash screen *does* disappear,
the session crashes afterwards... I actually just noticed that the crash
does not only depend on the splash image from blubuntu-session-splashes,

I think I can reproduce the bug. After using gnome-splashscreen-manager to
change my splash-screen, the gnome session crashed whenever I tried to log in.
After the first start there was the "Your session lasted less than..." box
mentioned above, after clicking ok, it crashed (but it was possible
I'm sorry, I delete it and I did'nt remebember... But on the forum in
french, it's a size of 450x365.
