Hal scans both /usr/share/hal and /etc/hal. But if the right directories in /etc/hal don't exist it errors out. Adding the symlink means that all the config stuff in /usr/share/hal gets scanned twice. (and now I know way too much about code that been deprecated for 4 years...) -- You received
