Wimpunk, what upstream report are you refering to?
The ddclient suggest you to install "libdigest-sha1-perl", which is no longer
shipped in Debian & Ubuntu.
Instead there is a package called "libdigest-sha-perl". However this is not the
correct package and installing it does not solve the issue.
There is also a related bug #993648,

Did you try to install the package and try again? As reported upstream,
it _is_ just a package issue.
