When I ran vol_id it gave the same "number" as in fstab, and /etc/disk
/by-uuid.
I think this may have started when I tried to see if I could use the hibernate
feature on my desktop machine. This didn't work, but I think it may have
corrupted the swap space some how.
I just fixed it by using mks
You might confirm the UUID by using the command 'sudo vol_id /dev/hdb1'.

I've just noticed I've got something similar. I hadn't noticed but since I've
upgrade to edgy, my swap
wasn't being mounted (not right term i know).
/etc/fstab says:
# /dev/hdb1 -- converted during upgrade to edgy
UUID=e96319e9-c1f2-4eff-ba59-fd0051c395a9 none swap sw 0 0
/dev/disk/by-uuid/e963

Also, just so that this bug can be closed safely, the UUID in /etc/fstab
and /dev/disks/by-uuid are now the same after the reinstallation.

The other machines don't seem to have a hibernate option at all in the
quit window, which is a bug I should report separately. So, perhaps
something went wrong during the installation. I'm installing again from
the Gutsy Tribe-1 for i386 from the alternate CD. I should have an
update in about 20 mi
Marc, does it happen only on that machine? can it be reproduced
regularly?
