post the output of alsa-info.sh
if you are using desktop with hda codec
the copy front mode of hda driver copy stereo to other channels
(surround speakers) when you playing stereo
you need pulseaudio to perform correct upmix

my case SB X-Fi Analog Surround 4.1 but it would happend to any x.1 mode
