Confirmed, I have exactly the same problem. This is really a show
stopper bug! Hope it get's noticed before the release, there are quite
some bugs about this already, and nobody seems to respond...

I installed linux-image-2.6.22-7-generic and built the rt2xxx drivers using the
hourly CVS snapshot:
rt2x00pci does not work
rt2500pci does work and that driver is installed by default as well, when
building from source.
Why were the legacy rt2500 and rt2400 drivers removed in gutsy even when
Linux-image-2.6.22-7-generic + linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.22-7-generic +
linux-restricted-modules-2.6.22-7-generic on AMD64 fails to contain an
appropriate rt2500pci.ko for my WLAN card. rt2x00pci loads but does
nothing.
