You have been subscribed to a public bug: Using today's image on a Samsung Gaxlaxy Nexus, I did a clean boot and started the phone app and left it to idle for a few moments. Then I killed the app from the "Running apps" panel and notices that unity8 is consuming ~45-50% of the available CPU:
top -b -d 1 -n 1 shows: PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND 729 phablet 20 0 291m 105m 58m S 46.5 15.2 5:11.87 unity8 500 system 20 0 61032 23m 22m S 11.6 3.3 0:35.49 surfaceflinger 1579 phablet 20 0 4532 1056 752 R 11.6 0.1 0:00.04 top I was also able to reproduce this by doing a clean boot and starting the "Terminal" app and killing it from the "Running apps" panel, and unity8 again is pegged at using ~45-50% of CPU. htop shows that there are two unit8 processes both consuming ~50% of each of the two CPUs: PID USER PRI NI VIRT RES SHR S CPU% MEM% TIME+ Command 734 phablet 20 0 274M 104M 61556 S 56.1 15.1 2:05.64 unity8 969 phablet 20 0 274M 104M 61556 S 52.9 15.1 1:46.12 unity8 1 root 20 0 2992 1892 1024 R 8.9 0.3 0:28.23 /sbin/init ** Affects: unity8 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Fix Released ** Tags: mobile-power-consumption -- [unity8] consumes a lot of CPU after stopping the phone app https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1199802 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
