Please don't undo others' work. A vlc dev marked your report 'Invalid'
as a bug with vlc because the information you've provided doesn't verify
that the issue is specific to vlc.
You never told us what audio output you're trying to use, whether you reset the
configuration, installed the pulse plu

It looks like you have screwed up your VLC configuration. Make sure the
PulseAudio plugin is installed as outlined already. Then reset your VLC
