Public bug reported: Binary package hint: debian-installer
I upgraded to 7.04 (Feisty Fawn), but the upgrade failed in the middle because /boot filled up. I had about 5 kernels (I had diligently upgraded when update-manager suggested, but had never thought to remove old versions), and the folks who pre-installed Ubuntu on my laptop created a very small /boot partition. During the recovery, at one point it *did* say I couldn't continue because /boot was full. It sure would have been nice if the upgrader had checked that before I started the process. It took me a while to get the system working again, and there is no way a non-technical user could have recovered on their own. Summary: Before upgrading, installer should check to make sure there is "enough" space available on /boot ** Affects: debian-installer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Unconfirmed -- Upgrade failed because /boot ran out of disk space https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/120489 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
