In general, most of these issues are caused either by bad h/v rates
specified in xorg.conf (which are no longer necessary anyway), or else
by invalid monitor EDID data.
Each of you seeing this issue, first try regenerating your xorg.conf -
run sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg. For most people
Xubuntu and Acer laptops with intel video cards are affected too.

Finally, I've this big fonts problem in Kubuntu KDE4. As reported by
peruron, in Ubuntu and plain Kubuntu (KDE3) it only happens in the login
screen. I fixed this problem specifying in GDM the DPI (fixing not only
the login screen, but also the big fonts in KDE4), as explained in the

Hi again,
My problem is huge fonts in the login screen (happens every time I reboot or
log off).
I've also had the same situation as in your picture, but then I reboot. It
solves the problem.
I'll check on Hardy soon enough, I hope.

It seems that this issue is not completely solved: I've just executed a
liveCD session of kubuntu desktop KDE4 8.04 (final) in my laptop and the
problem is still present. Tomorrow I'll test the KDE3 kubuntu and ubuntu
versions, but probably it will also happen.
Should this bug report be reopened,
Closing as expired.
We suspect this issue is resolved now with latest Hardy; if not please
feel free to reopen.

I have also a similar problem. In past Gutsy beta releases all fonts
were huge, but in the daily release of 2007-09-22 only some window fonts
have this problem, as can be seen in the attached image. This problem
disappears if I switch off graphics desktop effects, and it won't
