Title:
HPLIP GUI
Hi Till, Cefn, Febian,
Currently HPLIP (i.e. from HPLIP-3.13.11 onwards) doesn't depend on gksu or
pkexec package and it is popping up own UI .
This issue won't occur again.
Thanks & Regards,
Amarnath

Cefn, the problem is caused by moving the default utility for running
GUI applications as root from gksu to pkexec. Instead of installing gksu
with
sudo apt-get install gksu
you could also try
sudo ln -s pkexec /usr/bin/gksu
Does this work for you?

Amarnath, please make HPLIP trying pkexec (it is part of PolicyKit) to
run programs as root. This is the standard program for this in Ubuntu

I can confirm that with my current configuration, with a new install
based on Ubuntu Gnome Saucy, and with gksu installed, this
authentication error has been eliminated. Perhaps you could consider
gksu as a recommended dependency for the Ubuntu deb.

Can someone at HP have a look into this? It seems that hp-setup cannot
cope with the fact that in Ubuntu one does not have a root password but
only sudo users.
