Public bug reported: powerd is the name of an already existing binary package in Debian. I guess it wasn't noticed since it's part of freebsd-utils which was apparently never really in Ubuntu.
http://packages.qa.debian.org/freebsd-utils This could be a problem if this package is ever submitted for inclusion in Debian. And it's just confusing if someone tries to Google for more information or troubleshooting a problem and just assumes that FreeBSD is upstream, not Canonical. http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/man.cgi?query=powerd ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.10 Package: powerd (not installed) ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.10.0-6.17-generic 3.10.3 Uname: Linux 3.10.0-6-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.12-0ubuntu3 Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu Aug 8 23:42:22 2013 InstallationDate: Installed on 2013-06-14 (55 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu-GNOME 13.10 "Saucy Salamander" - Alpha amd64 (20130613) MarkForUpload: True SourcePackage: powerd UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: powerd Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: powerd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug saucy ** Also affects: powerd Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1210379 Title: Rename powerd to something less generic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/powerd/+bug/1210379/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
