cannot burn
I was on Jaunty Jackalope (and previous releases), and was burning CDs
and DVDs fine. Then somewhere around 2 weeks ago, my cd burning stopped
working, but the DVD burning would still work. I then upgraded to
Karmic Koala, and same problem persists. I do all burning through K3B.
For burning
Follow up: My DVD burner is DVD A DH20A4P.
I found in the system settings, a K3B setup. I opened this and found
that there are some options I may need to try, that possibly got unset
at some point (although I know I didnt manually do this).

I have the same problem. Have tried Gnomebaker, K3B, Brasero and wodim
directly from command line.
Since upgrading to 8.04 (I now run 8.10), I can't burn anything.
What information would be helpful with my confirmation of this report -
and (sorry) how can I get that info?

Sorry, disregard my previous message. The problem is in the type of
drive not in the burning software (this ASUS drive just doesn't support
DVD burning!).

Unfortunately for me the problem is not solved in Hardy Heron. I tried both
Brasero and gnomebaker.
I have Hardy Heron installed (Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, server ed. 64 bits)
When I run Brasero the Status field displays: the medium is not
writable with the current set of plugins.
With Gnomebaker the
Hardy Heron fixes this bug.

I don't know if this is the same bug, but if I want to burn a image
(iso) to cd brasero and gnomebaker fail. They both say that the medium
is not writable. The cd is a brand new CD-R and my burner is a DVD+-RW
TS-L632D.

ooking over the Hardware, it does have storage.cdrom.write_speed listed
as int 0 (0x0). Not sure why, and not sure how to fix this.
storage.cdrom.write_speeds has str . storage.physical_device has

I'm including screenshots of my DVD Hardware configuration. Not sure if
this will help.
Not sure if I had mentioned that I can play CD's and DVD's, I just
cannot burn anything. I tried Brasero, Nautilus, Gnomebaker, with no
luck. None of the three will let me adjust burn speed, and both Nautilus

Umm, I managed to fix the sound problem on my own. Though I'm curious
why Ubuntu has Surround Sounded muted by default, as this was the
problem. It's also hidden when you check the sound parameters by the
speaker on the task bar. I had to find it using preferences.

Brasero is not in Synaptic or Add/Remove, so I can't
try it. I think it's to do with this computer, as I
burned CD's with another computer using Feisty with no
problems. I assume the CD Burner is not in the Linux
setup somehow. I've had numerous other problems with
Feisty and this acer as3680, as
Ergh, but that applies only if you're running gutsy.

I installed brasero, and it appeared to work fine at

Acer 2680 laptop. I don't really know what all the bus
stuff means. I have tried Dynex CD-R, which don't
work. They work fine in my other computer.
