Public bug reported:

After a clean install and upgdate of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS I can not use my
USB 3.0 ports to restore files from my backup disk.

uname -a
Linux csipetke 3.8.0-30-generic #44~precise1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Aug 23 18:32:41 UTC
2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

The errors I get from command line:

cp: reading `gsinai/.recently-used.xbel.82Z5BV': Input/output error
cp: failed to extend `/dev/null': Input/output error

dmesg:
[ 2050.726287] Buffer I/O error on device dm-0, logical block 296747919
[ 2050.726290] lost page write due to I/O error on dm-0

syslog:

device number 4 using xhci_hcd

The problem is 100% reproducable, please tell me if you need more
information.

The same disk works fine with my laptop running the same version of
Ubuntu.
