I tested this using aptitude version 0.4.11.11-1ubuntu1 from Jaunty and
the bug in fact is fixed. However, I'm a bit disappointed that you
didn't take the time to test it yourself and instead pushed back on me
to do it. As aptitude is part of the minimal task and I put the exact
command necessary

Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue
