Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager
I am at a hotel in Quebec where the ESSID is "Chambre 100 รก 101". I am able to connect using Wifi-radar, but NetworkManager can't even see the network, though it can see others. I have restarted my computer a couple of times, and booted directly from an Ubuntu 7.04 CD to ensure it wasn't just my upgraded (from 6.10) system configuration. Wifi-radar incidentally shows the network as "Chambre 100 ? 101". If I sudo killall NetworkManager sudo NetworkManager to restart the NetworkManager (even on a fresh boot!) then NetworkManager can see the networks in question, however it has thus far not been able to even get one of the two green status dots. I have been connecting to all sorts of Networks with Network Manager and this is the first one I've come across with an extended character in the ESSID name and so I am just guessing this might be the problem, especially considering that it's showing up as a question mark in other programs. ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- NetworkManager doesn't find network with accent in ESSID https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/122548 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
