karmic/amd64. Have been having it sporatically for a few releases now

I can confirm this bug. I was able to reproduce it following the
instructions posted. By taking a screenshot while it was flashing, I was
able to learn that it wasn't really flashing. The caption that comes up
when you hover your mouse over a minimized application was appearing and

Sorry, but perhaps I should clarify that I dd the complete update and
upgrade as per your suggestion, and I rebooted afterwards. The flicker
is very clearly still there after the reboot, and the policy output was
also after the reboot. I'll try to respond quickly if you get another

Look at your last comment it shows the canidate *-0ubuntu3 since its
shwoing there you should beable to get it with sudo apt-get update than
sudo apt-get upgrade or dist-upgrade

Okay, I configured my network connection by hand and did an apt-get
update/apt-get upgrade sequence. I still exhibits the bug. I didn't
see any update from firefox, but there was one from xorg. Perhaps I'm
not getting some update you're putting in Gutsy?
