Just installed gutsy from CD, and I also have the same problem with radeon 9200
running on
an intel mobo.
dmesg:

I'm having the same problem with a mobility radeon 9200 and the rc
livecd. A sudo modprobe -r radeon sudo modprobe radeon fixes it, and
after an X restart I get 3d acceleration. For some reason the agpgart
module is loaded after the radeon module in the livecd, even though
lsmod correctly lists

Oh, I forgot to mention: I'm using 32-bit Ubuntu on 64-bit machine.
(64-bit tribe-2 doesn't even boot, but that's different story)
