Public bug reported: Sound in Youtube videos in Firefox no longer play, it is completely silent.
I checked Rekonq too, but I don't know if it was working before. It was working with Firefox 23 until today after I ran all available patches and Firefox 24 was installed. I did roll back to Firefox 20, but that didn't solve the issue. I was checking the video on this page: http://www.eevblog.com/2013/09/28/eevblog-528-opamp-input-noise-voltage- tutorial/ Yesterday it worked, today (after patching) it doesn't. Other system sounds work as expected. On https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/ I noticed that my Flash player is not up to date: Outdated Plugins Plugin Status Action Shockwave FlashShockwave Flash 11.2 r202 vulnerable Update Now I did not download there because it doesn't provide a .deb package. I tried running /usr/lib/update-notifier/package-data-downloader from the command line hoping to update flash, but nothing seems to happen. Not 100% sure flash is the actual issue though. 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System -> About Ubuntu DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=13.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=raring DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 13.04" 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy pkgname' or by checking in Software Center firefox: Installed: 24.0+build1-0ubuntu0.13.04.1 Candidate: 24.0+build1-0ubuntu0.13.04.1 Version table: *** 24.0+build1-0ubuntu0.13.04.1 0 500 http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring-updates/main amd64 Packages 500 http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring-security/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 20.0+build1-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring/main amd64 Packages 3) What you expected to happen When I surf to http://www.eevblog.com/2013/09/28/eevblog-528-opamp-input-noise-voltage-tutorial/ and start the video I expect both video and audio to work. 4) What happened instead Video works, audio is completely silent. Other system sounds work as expected. A random other video on YouTube has the same problem: no sound.
