Public bug reported: This is for Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS 64-bit
My brother scanner MFC-8480DN used to work fine (using xsane) until a few days ago I upgraded the following packages: liblockfile-bin (1.09-3) to 1.09-3ubuntu0.1 liblockfile1 (1.09-3) to 1.09-3ubuntu0.1 dpkg (1.16.1.2ubuntu7.1) to 1.16.1.2ubuntu7.2 dpkg-dev (1.16.1.2ubuntu7.1) to 1.16.1.2ubuntu7.2 libdpkg-perl (1.16.1.2ubuntu7.1) to 1.16.1.2ubuntu7.2 libicu48 (4.8.1.1-3) to 4.8.1.1-3ubuntu0.1 procps (1:3.2.8-11ubuntu6) to 1:3.2.8-11ubuntu6.1 (I did not change anything else on the system.) Now xsane freezes during startup and I cannot use the scanner anymore. Actually, "scanimage -L" freezes, too. I tested that there seems to be no problem with the scanner itself that continues to work fine with my old laptop running Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1240700 Title: xsane freezes during startup following package updates To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1240700/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
