Sorry for the short reply - I have just had an operation and can't sit down
at my PC at the moment.
I think you are right about the root FS. It did get full and the upgrade to
13.10 failed. I had to clear the apt package cache and then it was ok.

in the ‘Df.txt’ file that you submitted, I note that your root
filesystem is almost entirely full (97 %), could that be the problem ?
I also note some strange errors in the ‘Dmseg.txt’ file. Do you
experience other problems with your computer, that are not related to
mime-support ?
