I found a switch labeled digital output or something similar. I checked it
and then I had sound! I'm assuming that an update set my default sound
output to digital instead of analogue. Perhaps the same thing can work for

there is no sound. i've turned up all the volume settings etc, sound works fine
when i boot into windows.
