At the Ubuntu Live conference I managed to get some help from some of the kernel hackers there and I got the impression that the problem I have is Vaio specific. I think perhaps you should file a different bug but reference this bug and the developers can then make the decision if it is a

I have somewhat the same problem on an IBM T41. After upgrading from Feisty to Gutsy (using upgrade-manager) most of the Fn-key combinations stopped working. I've tried to see if I could get any reaction from the keys by following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LaptopTestingTeam/HotkeyResearch . However
